A Pet Collar is placed around the neck to aid in control and restraint of a pet. Loops or rings are attached near the buckle for placement of identification tags, licenses, medical alerts and leashes.
Buying Guide
When choosing a collar it's important to consider the purpose of the collar. The traditional Buckle Collar is used as a restraining device and to hold identification tags. The BreakAway Collar serves the same purpose, but has a safety mechanism which prevents strangulation. These collars are popular for small animals or puppies or kittens who aren't strong enough or vocal enough to get one's attention in a dangerous situation. There are many kinds of collars are used with dogs as training aids. Correctly tugging and releasing a Limited Slip Collar (or Martingale Collar) demands the animals attention and can provide the trainer or owner with some additional control, in order to redirect the dog towards desired behaviors. Other variations on training collars are Check (or Choke) Chains, Prong Collar and Shock Collars - please use these training collars only after consulting with a veterinarian or a certified canine trainer - so that you have all the safety information and understand the correct uses of these training tools - and your dog will be happy with the outcome once you begin to incorporate the collar into your daily training routines.
